We offer Pregnancy Massage Treatments after 12 weeks term we always recommend that you have discussed this with your midwife before booking as well as doing a full consultation to see if the massage treatment is right for you.

What is Pregnancy Massage?

​

A Pregnancy Massage is different to a normal type Swedish massage in that we adjust the way you lay usually in a side lying position. 

We use a lighter pressure and more sweeping strokes towards the heart.

During the second and third trimester blood pressure can rise specifically in the legs.

​

Aches and Pains as the body adapts to change.

​

During the pregnancy term your body goes through a lot of changes. Hormonal changes  can have an effect on the hips as they widen and adjust for the birth. As the baby grows and the weight increase the hips and body go through changes which result in back pain, sciatic nerve pain and around the hips.

​

Severe pain should always be checked by your midwife. Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD) is one example of severe pain.

​

Due to the centre of gravity changes as the baby grows and your body changes often many clients can get Postural Problems including the shoulders and neck.
